Two-Day Technical Training on the Nutanix Platform
From HCI architecture to automation and disaster recovery — April 2026, Baku
In April 2026, the ACROPOLIS INTEGRO team delivered a closed two-day technical training on the Nutanix platform for the engineering teams of our customers.
The training was structured not as a product pitch but as a working session — with real-world cases, architectural decisions, and operational nuances that are not found in the official documentation.
What we covered over two days
Day 1 — fundamentals and platform internals:
- HCI theory and differences from classic storage arrays
- AOS internals: CVM, Stargate, Cassandra, metadata
- Data locality as a source of performance
- Prism Element: storage containers, volume groups, hardware layout
- Recommended settings: Rebuild Capacity Reservation, Rack Awareness, Pulse, VIP/DSIP
- RF2 vs RF3, compression, deduplication, erasure coding — when to enable what
Day 2 — operations and automation:
- Prism Central: categories, tags, role model, Authorization Policies
- VM deployment from Cloud Image via cloud-init and sysprep
- Flow Network Security and IP-less microsegmentation
- Protection Policy, Consistency Groups, Near-Sync replication
- Recovery Plan with test network and automatic re-IP
- X-Play — low-code workflow automation
- NDB (Nutanix Database Services) — managing Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB
- External Storage (Pure, NetApp, Dell) — when it applies in the region
- Troubleshooting and working with Nutanix Support
Format
A two-day intensive with a step-by-step flow: theory → architecture → hands-on in the UI → operational recommendations. The 45-minute-block format with breaks proved effective — the material is absorbed without overload, leaving room for questions and post-mortems.
Who benefits from this training
- IT teams migrating from VMware to Nutanix or evaluating the platform
- Infrastructure architects designing HCI solutions
- DBAs considering NDB for database consolidation
- Teams implementing disaster recovery and microsegmentation
Outcome for participants
Each participant received a structured memo with core concepts, operational recommendations, and a list of next steps — including the Nutanix NCA certification path and links to Nutanix Bible and Portal.
Next steps
A lab demonstration with hands-on Protection Policy and Recovery Plan setup. Further sessions are planned on NDB, Flow Network Security, and X-Play automation.
