On April 20, 2026, the ACROPOLIS INTEGRO team delivered the OpenShift Virtualization Roadshow — a one-day hands-on workshop for virtualization admins, DevOps engineers, and architects who want to master VM management on Red Hat’s modern Kubernetes platform.

The format was designed not as a product pitch but as a working lab — with a real environment deployed and step-by-step drills through the scenarios teams face when moving to OpenShift Virtualization.

What we covered in one day

  • How to unify virtual machines and containers in a single OpenShift infrastructure
  • Creating, migrating, and managing VMs in OpenShift Virtualization
  • Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) — the tool for migrating VMs from VMware
  • Working with VM templates, networks, and storage
  • VM backup and recovery practices in OpenShift
  • Day-2 operations and publishing applications running inside VMs

Format

The workshop combines theory and hands-on practice — participants apply what they learn in a live environment immediately. A step-by-step flow: architecture → deployment → migration → operations. Seats were limited, which let us keep an individual pace and answer questions as they came up.

Who benefits from this training

  • Virtualization admins evaluating alternatives to VMware
  • DevOps engineers consolidating VM and container workloads
  • Infrastructure architects designing hybrid Kubernetes environments
  • Teams planning workload migration to OpenShift

Outcome for participants

Each participant gained hands-on experience with OpenShift Virtualization in a real environment and a clear picture of how to design a migration of their own VM estate. For continued self-study — the official OpenShift Virtualization Roadshow guide.

Next steps

A pilot rollout of OpenShift Virtualization in customer infrastructures and detailed migration planning from VMware via MTV. Further sessions are planned on Day-2 operations, backup, and disaster recovery for VMs in OpenShift.
